Mamoru Kusanagi Kusanagi is by far my favorite character in the series. (no, really?) He is one of the most complex characters presented, and develops a great deal over the series. Kusanagi was implanted as a baby with seven mitamas, or blue seeds, by the Arigami Yamata-no-Orochi. His parents were killed and Orochi charged him with this mission: to protect the Kushinada at all costs from any attempts on her life, which would obviously spell disaster for the Arigami. These mitama give him the ability to sprout (no pun intended) organic blades from his forearms and upper-body armor, along with an electrical type energy shot out from the mitamas. He can also move incredibly fast and jump extremely high. Of course, the price of all this is his humanity. Kusanagi began the series attempting to kill Momiji so he would be free of his curse, but because of her resemblence to Kaede he is not able to. He protected Kaede for the first 15 years of their lives and was very much in love with her. Now Kusanagi protects Momiji from the Arigami and hopes that they will be able to find a way for her to defeat the Arigami, giving him the revenge he wants. Kusanagi is always making cracks to Momiji about her 'baby-figure' and kiddie panties, and always getting slapped for it. Momiji is very much in love with Kusanagi, but will he ever be able to break free of Kaede's ghost?........and don't you just think those cat-eyes are the best? Four eyebrows are way better than two!
