Momiji Fujimiya Momiji was just a normal, slightly bubbly high school student until she recently found out the truth about her heritage. Now that her twin Kaede is dead, Momiji is the only surviving Kushinada, a human being with the power to stop the Arigami. Unfortunatelyfor her, the only way for that to happen is for her to die. A Kushinada offered as sacrifice is the only way to stop the Arigami for sure. However, Momiji, her friends at the TAC, and Kusanagi won't give up hope that there is another way. Momiji can be air-headed at times, but she truly cares about all people and always has a cheerful word. The countless times that she is in hot water she is always dragged out in time by Kusanagi. When they first met Kusanagi was trying to kill Momiji, but now he protects her. Momiji has a mitama, or blue seed, on her chest that was implanted there when she took a killing blow meant for Kusanagi. The Arigami, Yamata-no-Orochi, sacrificed himself and gave up his mitama so that she would not die and annhialate his species. Momiji's mitama allows her to sense arigame and later Kusanagi, making her a valuable member of the TAC. Momiji eventually develops true feelings for Kusanagi, but will he ever know? She is constantly fending off Kusanagi's attempts to peek at her cartoon animal panties, usually with the slap-to-the-face-method. Momiji's name, by the way, means maple if you ever catch any of the symbolism in the episodes.
